Falcons blast Bemidji State in regular season finale

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's ACHA hockey team closed the regular season with an 8-2 victory over Bemidji State. The victory sends CUW into postseason play on a nine game winning streak at 23-4-1 on the year. The Falcons also celebrated their two seniors in Brian Johnson (Plainfield, Ill.) and Jonathan Grodzki (Tampa Bay, Fla.).

The Falcons opened the evening with five goal in the first period, with goals from freshman Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.), freshman Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.), Jonathan Grodzki and two from freshman Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.).

Jonathan Grodzki opened the second period with a goal Beavers the Beavers bit back and scored their two goals of the night. Scott Gregor stopped the skid with a goal late in the second period.

Jonathan Grodzki secured the senior night hat trick with a third-period goal.  He finished the night with four points with an added assist.

Easton Williams and junior Wyatt Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) both finished with two assists.

Brian Johnson finished his senior night with 29 saves.

The Falcons will now fight for the Hap Cup in the NCHL Playoffs.
