Women’s Cross Country finishes 24th at NCAA Regionals
COLFAX, Wis. – The 2018 season came to a close on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championships. The CUW women's cross country team finished with 694 points in 24th place. The Falcons had an average time of 25:19.
"Today was a race where most of the team has never raced in such cold conditions," said head coach Russ DeLap. "They all poured theirs hearts out and ran like monsters. I was proud of how they all raised to the occasion."
Senior Molly Wirtz (Stevens Point, Wis.) led the way for the Falcons in 97th place in 24:20.5.
In 108th place was freshman Mackenzie Dorth (West Bend, Wis.) at 24:32.4.
Crossing the finish line at 25:04.0 was sophomore Emma Verbeke (Appleton, Wis.) in 130th place.
Sophomore Adrianna Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.) clocked in a time of 25:52.7 in 166th place.
Sophomore LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.) finished in 205th place at 26:47.9.
The Falcons had a back-to-back finish with senior Leslie Christiansen (Morton Grove, Ill.) in 212th place (27:01.2) and freshman Hannah Secor (Marengo, Ill.) (27:02.0) in 213th place.
The Bears of Washington University (Mo.) claimed the title with 58 points. Hannah Roeske of Wheaton was the individual champion at 21:21.8.
