Women's Cross Country competes at UW-Eau Claire Meet

COLFAX, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Cross Country team competed at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational Friday. The Falcons finished 21st at the event, the second time the Falcons have competed as a team this season.

THE BASICS
- Falcons Finish:
21st of 25 (598 points)
- Location: Whitetail Golf Course – Colfax, Wisconsin
- Falcons Top Five: Dorth, Verbeke, Dunning, Jodarski, Brandenstein

RESULTS
- Mackenzie Dorth (West Bend, Wis.) paced the Falcons with a 24:38.2 in her first race of the season. The freshman finished 123rd in the 327-runner field.

- Emma Verbeke (Appleton, Wis.) and Rileigh Dunning (La Mesa, Calif.) were the next two runners to finish for CUW. Verbeke clocked in at 25:35.0 and Dunning was next in line at 26:01.8.

- Freshmen Alyssa Jodarski (Eldorado, Wis.) and Hannah Brandenstein (Oconomowoc, Wis.) were the final scoring runners for the Falcons Friday. Jodarski posted a 6K time of 26:22.7 and Brandenstein crossed the finish line in 26:39.9.

- Hannah Secor (Marengo, Ill.), LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.), and Leslie Christiansen (Morton Grove, Ill.) rounded out the Falcons lineup. Secor posted a 26:44.7, Bartel came in at 26:52.1, and Christiansen recorded a time of 27:41.6

THE MEET
- Host UW-Eau Claire won the meet, scoring 80 points to narrowly defeat Carleton (82). Aurora was the top-finishing NACC school, placing 16th.

- Sam Slattery of UW-Eau Claire won the individual title with a time of 22:06.8

- The race was good for the Falcons and other teams in the region to familiarize themselves with as Whitetail Golf Course will host the 2018 NCAA Division III Midwest Regionals on November 10.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will run again next Friday, October 5 at the Benedictine Eagle Invite. The women's race will start at 4:45 p.m.
