Women's Cross Country places 19th at Midwest Regionals

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Cross Country team wrapped up its 2017 season by competing at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regionals Saturday. The Falcons placed 19th in the event and were second among NACC schools.

THE BASICS
- Falcons Finish: 19th of 37 (518 points)
- Location: Saukie Golf Course – Rock Island, Ill. (6K race)
- Falcons Top Five: Sprotte, Imperl, Lubner, Kulberg, Agnello

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cassandra Sprotte (Abbotsford, Wis.) saved her best 6K race for last by finishing the course in a PR time of 22:54.5. She finished 83rd in the race, which featured 263 runners.

- Nora Imperl (Greenfield, Wis.) came in next for the Falcons, finishing 90th in the race with a time of 23:00.2. She was followed by freshman Adrianna Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.) who posted a PR time Saturday, completing the course in 23:08.6.

- The final two scoring runners for the Falcons Saturday were seniors Martha Kulberg (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Paulina Agnello (Brookfield, Wis.). Kulberg notched her first sub-24 minute 6K with a time of 23:28.3, as did Agnello who ran a 23:53.1.

- Rileigh Dunning (La Mesa, Calif.) and Molly Wirtz (Stevens Point, Wis.) rounded out the Falcons lineup. Dunning also posted a big PR on Saturday, running a 24:09.9, while Wirtz clocked in at 24:52.2, a season-best time.

THE RACE
- UW-Eau Claire captured the regional title with all five of its scoring runners in the top 25. Washington University (St. Louis) finished second. Khia Kurtenbach of Chicago won the individual title, navigating through the 6K course in a time of 20:41.3.

BEYOND THE RESULTS
- The race wraps up a very successful 2017 season for the Falcons. CUW captured a NACC Championship two weeks ago and had five runners earn All-NACC honors (Imperl, Sprotte, Lubner, Kulberg, Agnello).
