Women's Volleyball earns two quality wins

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin played two quality opponents on Saturday and came out in the win column in both matches, defeating UW-Stout 3-2 (23-25, 27-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-13) before sweeping UW-Stevens Point 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-16) inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin had its hands full against UW-Stout after winning the second and third sets to take a 2-1 lead, it dropped the fourth to set it into a deciding fifth frame. With the scoreboard reading 2-2 for sets and 13-13 for the score, the Falcons took advantage of a Blue Devils ball handling error before securing the match-winning point.
- There were 20-plus scoring ties in the back-and-forth contest to begin the day.
- Sophomore Jenna Chaussee (Chilton, Wis.) led all players with 19 kills, to go along with 19 kills. Sophomore Gabrielle Pavlik (Pewaukee, Wis.) added 13 kills and sophomore Makenzie Vertz (Mukwonago, Wis.) dished out 28 assists.
- Senior Kendall Stribling (Greenfield, Wis.) had four service aces, six kills, five digs and two block assists.
- Amber Ripley and Lexie Nelson led the Blue Devils with 14 kills each, while Steph Cannon had 39 digs.
- The Falcons continued their offensive rhythm against UW-Stevens Point, but their defense also rose to the occasion holding the visitors to a .097 hitting percentage. They slowly wore down the Pointers, as they hit -.320 in the final set.
- Concordia Wisconsin was led by senior Megan Mayer (Downers Grove, Ill.) who had 11 kills, 16 digs and four blocks. Chaussee added 10 kills, while Stribling tallied seven kills, three service aces and three blocks. The Falcons dialed up 10 service aces as a team.
- April Gehl led UW-Stevens Point with 11 kills and Ellie Adams had 28 assists.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin travels to Wisconsin Lutheran on Tuesday for a 7 pm NACC matchup. If the Falcons win they would at worst secure a share of the NACC regular-season title and the No. 2 seed, but if Aurora loses at Dominican, then Concordia Wisconsin wins it outright a locks up the top seed.
