Women's Volleyball loses first NACC match of the season

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin's conference winning streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon, as Aurora won 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-22) inside the R. John Buuck Field House. The Falcons were undefeated with a 9-0 league record entering the match.

THE BASICS
Final Score: Aurora 3, Concordia Wisconsin 0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-22)
Location: R. John Buuck Field House (Mequon, Wis.)
Records: Aurora 17-8, 8-1 NACC; Concordia Wisconsin 16-7, 9-1 NACC

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons and Spartans are two of the premier teams in the NACC, having met the past three seasons in the tournament championship game, but it was the visitors who found the momentum. AUrora hit .382 in the opening set and won 25-18.
- The visitors then limited Concordia Wisconsin to a .122 hitting percentage in the second frame, which was enough to take a 2-0 lead in the contest.
- With the loss, the Falcons need to win their next NACC match to clinch at least a share of the regular-season title. If Aurora were to lose one of its next three, and Concordia Wisconsin wins its next two they'll win the regular-season title outright.
- Sophomore Sophia Collins (Lake Mills, Wis.) and senior Megan Mayer (Downers Grove, Ill.) each had 10 kills, while sophomore Makenzie Vertz (Mukwonago, Wis.) and freshman Sierra Lee (Kenosha, Wis.) each assisted on 16 kills. Mayer also had 15 kills for her 12th double-double of the season and fifth in a row.
- Aurora was led by Karli Chambers and Sydnei Avery who each had nine kills, while Miranda Cada recorded 30 assists. Lindsey Simpson had seven block assists.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin travels to Marian on Tuesday for a 7 pm NACC matchup.
