UW-La Crosse snaps Falcons five-match winning streak

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team put its five-match winning streak on the line against UW-La Crosse Sunday at Fitting Field. The Falcons were unable to slow down the Eagles, who are receiving votes in the latest national poll, as they fell by a 3-0 score, snapping the five-game streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles scored two first-half goals, the first of those coming in the 21st minute off the foot of Alex Cording. The second UW-La Crosse goal was a penalty kick from Maya Schmitt in the 30th minute.

- The third goal of the match came in the 59th minute as Heather Baran put UW-La Crosse up 3-0. Cording and Cassie Handrick assisted on the goal.

- CUW was outshot 20-7 on Sunday, including 10-1 in terms of shots on goal.  Kaeley Sterkel (Dana Point, Calif.) made seven saves for the Falcons.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The loss snapped a five-match winning streak for the Falcons. Four of those five wins were NACC contests as CUW remains 4-0 in NACC play.

- The Falcons will put their unblemished NACC record on the line Wednesday when they visit Wisconsin Lutheran at 7 p.m.
