Women's Lacrosse had many bright spots during 2019 season

MEQUON, Wis. -- The year didn't start out particularly well for Concordia Wisconsin's Women's Lacrosse program with a 1-5 record, but the remainder of the season was a much different story with eight wins over the last 11 games. Even though a trip to the MWLC Tournament wasn't a goal that got checked off, there were many, many highlights from the 2019 campaign.

At one point during the season, the Falcons had won six consecutive home games. During that stretch, they outscored the opposition by a score of 85-46, with all six of those games being played against MWLC foes. They also had a harassing defense throughout the year, as 268 caused turnovers were recorded (third most in a season in program history). Their defensive efforts also ranked eighth nationally in caused turnovers per game (15.76).

A season in review couldn't go without mentioning the senior class of Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.), Ashley Solberg (Waukesha, Wis.), Shannon Carroll (Mundelein, Ill.), Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) and Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario). The trio fo Paquin, Woodman and Kennedy played all four years and helped the program win an MWLC regular season title and tournament championship during their rookie years in 2016. During their time they amassed a 46-25 overall record and a 37-7 record during MWLC play.

Paquin rewrote the Women's Lacrosse record book by setting the career records for points (277), goals (218), shots attempted (458), shots on goal (335) and tying the record for free-position goals (31). She also owns the game record for points with 12 (eight goals, four assists) and tied the game record for ground balls (10) and free-position goals (3). The most prolific goals scorer in program history owns three of the top-6 season for goals scored.

The 2020 season will have a different look, but the foundation will be solid as there were eight underclassmen on the roster and six of those players started at least half of the games during the year.
