Falcons show balance in CIT victory

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Concordia Wisconsin had five players score in double-figures on Saturday during an 86-54 victory over Concordia Chicago during the 68th Annual Concordia Invitational Tournament. It is the third time this season the Falcons have defeated the Cougars in the last eight weeks, although this was designated as a non-conference game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Chicago had the upper hand after 10 minutes of action, leading 20-16, but it didn't last long as Concordia Wisconsin defense rose to the occasion and held its opposition to eight points during the second period before eventually leading 34-28 at the break.
- The second half was all Falcons, as they slowly pulled away as each minute went by and led by 61-45 after three quarters of play before blowing the game wide open in the final quarter. They outscored the Cougars 25-9 during the last 10 minutes of action.
- Again, hot shooting was displayed by the offense, as Concordia Wisconsin made 51.6 percent (32-of-62) from the field and drained eight 3-pointers. They were also 14-of-18 at the charity stripe.
- Freshman Camryn Szolyga (Waukesha, Wis.) was efficient off the bench with 10 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals in 18-and-a-half minutes of play. Sophomore Emily Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while junior Clara Chambers (Mineral Point, Wis.) netted 13 points and had three assists.
- Junior Arianna Liddicoat (Watertown, Wis.) ended with 11 points and senior Baylee Barker (Oconomowoc, Wis.) added 10 points.
- Concordia Chicago was led by Crystal Corr who had 14 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Sam Bloom also scored 10 points.

- Camryn Szolyga was named to the All-Tournament team.

GAME NOTES
- The Falcons owned a 51-32 advantage in rebounds and dished out 16 assists. They also had 13 offensive rebounds, to go along with a 46-26 difference in paint scoring.
- Concordia Wisconsin has defeated Concordia Chicago four games in a row and has won nine of the last 10 matchups.
