Shooting Sports places second in multiple events at SASP Ohio Regional

MARENGO, Ohio – Concordia Wisconsin's first-ever competition ended with much success, as they finished second in the Rimfire Pistol, Iron Rifle and Optic Rifle events on Saturday during the SASP Ohio Regional at Cardinal Shooting Center.

The Falcons newly formed club sport took three shooters and turned in second place finishes in three different events. They had practiced just a few times and were already successful against other collegiate programs from around the country.

Mikaela Leach shined in all three events, as she was the leader for the Falcons in the Rimfire Pistol (94.30 seconds), Optics Rifle (77.07 seconds) and Iron Rifle (59.71 seconds). As well, Andrew Handrich was second on the squad in all three events – Rimfire Pistol (71.83 seconds), Optics Rifle (53.14 seconds) and Iron Rifle (54.81 seconds). Grant Steinike rounded out the lineup with times of 103.78 in Rimfire Pistol, 51.48 during the Optics Rifle and 56.82 when shooting in the Iron Rifle event.

The Falcons finished second in all three Collegiate Open events as a team. Also competing were members from UW-Platteville, Bethel, Miami (Ohio) and Michigan State. The weather conditions weren't favorable, as the temperature was in the upper 30s with snow, sleet and rain falling to make things difficult on the shooters.

Concordia Wisconsin will next travel to Talladega, Ala., for the SSSF College Nationals at CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park on March 11-12.
