MONTGOMERY, Ill. – The Falcons rally fell short in the second round of the NACC Tournament. Marian edged the Falcons 4-2 on Thursday night. CUW moves to 24-10 on the year.
The Sabres struck first on Thursday with four runs in the fifth inning.
The Falcons did not fold and scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Freshman Krystal Cortes (Aurora, Ill.) singled up the middle to score senior Sara Rosenow (Kimberly, Wis.).
Senior Becky Bonnin (Kenosha, Wis.) then scored on an infield single off the bat of junior Molly O'Connell (New London, Wis.).
Freshman Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.) had five strikeouts in the circle.
Krystal Cortes had two of the five Falcon hits on Thursday.
The Falcons will play Aurora on Friday afternoon. The winner will advance to later play the winner of the Wisconsin Lutheran vs. Dominican game.
