Men’s Track & Field posts strong day at Platteville

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The CUW men's track & field team competed at the UW-Platteville Pioneer Invite on Saturday.

"Platteville served us well with a lot of personal records," said head coach Russ DeLap. "Overall, I am seeing a lot of progress as a team. I am excited about how we preformed today."

Junior Samual Spranger (Fond du Lac, Wis.) posted the fifth-fastest time in program history in the 200-metre dash at 22.88 in third place. He also placed second at the 400-meter dash at 50.54.

Sophomore Craig Reese (Germantown, Wis.) had the third-fastest time in program history in the 5000-meter run at 15:20.89.

In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Henry Jensen (Muskego, Wis.) clocked in at 9.90 for the sixth-fastest time in program history.

The Falcons placed second in both relays. At 1:36.55 in the 4x200 meter relay and at 3:32.14 in the 4x400 meter relay.

Senior Grant Johnson (Oconomowoc, Wis.) was sixth in the pole vault event at 4.00 meters.

Freshman Austin Lopez (Ripon, Wis.) marked in at 5.84 meters in 11th place in the long jump.

Sophomore Paul Leahy (Eldridge, Iowa) led the Falcons in the 60-meter dash at 7.31.

In the shot put, freshman Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) led CUW at 12.33 meters.

Junior Ryan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) recorded a toss of 11.91 meters in the weight throw in 24th place.

Freshman William Ebel (Macomb, Mich.) was 30th in the 800-meter run at 2:09.59 and 23rd in the 1-mile run at 4:52.80.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday at Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
