Men’s Track & Field opens year at Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The CUW men's track & field team opened the season at the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invite. The Falcons finished fourth with 35 points. Wisconsin-Oshkosh won with 332 points.

Sophomore Paul Leahy (Eldridge, Iowa) was the fastest Falcon in the 60-meter dash at 7.30.

Junior Samual Spranger (Fond du Lac, Wis.) finished fifth in the 200-meter dash at 23.36. Leahy finished in sixth place at 23.38.

Spranger was the fastest runner in the 400-meter dash, taking the crown at 50.37. Sophomore Preus Hasselbrook (Missoula, Mont.) clocked in at 53.86 in fifth place. Freshman Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.) was sixth (54.40) and senior Nick Margrett (Brookfield, Wis.) was seventh (54.64).

In the mile, freshman Wesley Schiek (Oshkosh, Wis.) finished at 4:41.86 in sixth place.

In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Henry Jensen (Muskego, Wis.) clocked in at 10.33 in eighth place.

Freshman Austin Lopez (Ripon, Wis.) cleared 5-7 in the high jump and 38-5 1.2 in the triple jump.

Sophomore Brandon Hargis (Henderson, Nev.) led CUW in the shot put at 40-3 1/2 and in the weight throw at 43-3 ¾.

The Falcons will take a month off and return to action on Jan. 11 in Michigan for the Bob Eubanks Open at Grand Valley State.
