Men’s Soccer wins conference opener over Rockford

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons opened their conference schedule strong as Concordia Wisconsin defeated the Rockford University Regents by a final of 6-1 on Wednesday night at Fitting Field.

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Falcons 6, Regents 1
-Records: Falcons 7-1-0 (1-0-0 NACC), Regents 3-6-1 (0-1-0 NACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons struck first in the 13th minute as Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.) took a pass from Jackson Dryden (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) on the left side and shot it past the keeper to put the Falcons up 1-0.
- In the 35th minute, Owen Hanisko (Hartford, Wis.) sent a deep pass down the left sideline that found Miguel Garcia (Batavia, Ill.), who shot it to the right of the keeper to score the game-winner for the Falcons.
- With less than three minutes left in the half, the Falcons struck again. Cristian Tyrpak (Hartford, Wis.) took a blocked shot from Joshua Shull (Evansville, Ind.) and scored to extend the CUW lead to 3-0.
- Four minutes into the second half, Dryden scored with Cuellar assisting. In the 55th minute, Dryden found the net again, this time on a pass from Angel Uriostegui (Round Lake Beach, Ill.).
- The Regents broke the shutout in the 60th minute on a goal by Carlos Montes.
- CUW regained their five-goal lead in the 79th minute as Tyrpak sent a ball behind him with finesse to Charlie Danek (Whitefish Bay, Wis.), who passed it over to Spencer Standarski (Waukesha, Wis.) who shot it past the keeper to the upper right corner to score the sixth goal of the game for the Falcons.
- The Falcons outshot the Regents 21-10.
