Falcons protect its home turf

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin scored five unanswered goals to begin the game and ran away for a 12-6 non-conference victory over Carroll on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at Fitting Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Ryan LeFebvre (Chicago, Ill.) and junior Connor Peterson (Calgary, Alberta) each netted a pair of goals during the Falcons 5-0 scoring outburst to begin the game at a sunny Fitting Field, with a game-time temperature of 41 degrees. From then on the Falcons didn't slow down with three of goals in a row after the Pioneers found the back of the net to go up 8-1 with just over six minutes to play before halftime.
- LeFebvre added another goal of his own in the fourth quarter for a hat trick, but the offensive highlights belonged to junior Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) who ended with five goals and three assists.
- Day had three assists and a pair of goals by the intermission and scored three Falcon goals in a row during the third quarter.
- Senior Ben Gramarossa (Smithtown, N.Y.) dominated the faceoff circle again, winning 13-of-15 attempts and Concordia Wisconsin won 18-of-22 as a team.
- Defensively, they caused 20 turnovers and owned a 39-24 advantage in ground balls. In goal, junior Alex Loding (Mundelin, Wis.) earned the win, while three goals combined for eight saves. Senior Ryan Voskuil (Flower Mound, Texas) and Gramarossa had five and four caused turnovers, respectively.
- Carroll was led by Jeff Schultz who had a hat trick.
