Falcons cruise to MLC victory

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin controlled the MLC game throughout, scoring five goals in each of the second and third quarters, en route to a dominating 16-4 victory over Fontbonne at Fitting Field on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin began to pull away in the second quarter with five goals and had control of the MLC contest with five more goals in the third quarter to lead 12-2 after 45 minutes of action. They added four more in the fourth to win walking away.
- Senior Warren Kaminsky (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and sophomore Ryan LeFebvre (Chicago, Ill.) each recorded hat tricks to lead 10 Falcons who found the back of the net. Junior Warner Marquez (Danville, Calif.) and sophomore Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) each had a pair of scores.
- While his teammates were scoring, it was senior Aidan Connolly (Grayslake, Ill.) who was having a game assisting on a career-high-tying four markers.
- Setting up the offense was senior Jack Melby (Eagan, Minn.) who won a career-high-tying 21 faceoffs and picked up 10 ground balls. He began the game with seven faceoff wins in a row and had 12 in a row later in the game.
- Defensively, senior Bennett Pallex (Pulaski, Wis.) and junior Nathan Oekerman (Beaverton, Ore.) each caused four turnovers, while junior Ryan Voskuil (Flower Mound, Texas) had a trio of caused turnovers.
- Senior Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) had nine saves in 48-plus minutes of work before sophomore Alex Loding (Mundelein, Ill.) had four saves to close the game.
- Michael Picciolo had a hat trick for Fontbonne, while Collin Lee caused a game-high five turnovers. Connor MacIntyre had five caused turnovers and Matt Rech ended with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers. Dalton Teague made 14 saves in goal.

GAME NOTES
- The Falcons outshot the Griffins 55-25, including 30-17 on goal. They also owned a 44-32 advantage in ground balls. Their 55 shots, 30 shots on goal and 21 faceoff wins are all season highs.
- Concordia Wisconsin ended converting 22-of-26 on the clear.
