Wohlford named DPOY, Voskuil is ROY in MLC postseason awards

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin's Garrett Wohlford earned Midwest Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors, while Ryan Voskuil was tabbed with Rookie of the Year accolades. The Falcons had 13 players on the postseason awards list, which is the most in program history, and the most of any team in the league.

Wohlford (sophomore, Rochester, Minn.) helped Concordia Wisconsin rank as one of the best defensive units in the MLC and ranks sixth nationally in goals against average (6.63) and save percentage (.609). The goalkeeper put together a 13-5 record and made double-digit saves in eight games this season. Wohlford was twice named MLC Defensive Player of the Week (May 1, March 6) is just the second player in conference history to repeat as Defensive Player of the Year, and was also an All-MLC First Team honoree.

Voskuil (freshman, Flower Mound, Texas) played in all 19 games this season, making 17 starts. He caused 10 turnovers and picked up 17 ground balls, to go along with a goal. The defender caused a season-best three turnovers during a MLC Tournament semifinal win, while also picking up multiple ground balls five times.

Senior Kellen Asmundson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) was named to the All-MLC First Team after ranking fourth in the MLC with 72 points, eighth with 33 goals and second with 39 assists. He set the program's single season record for points and assists during his final year as a Falcon. Asmundson ended his career ranked seventh in program history with 42 assists in just 31 games played. He was named MLC Offensive Player of the Week once (May 1).

Senior James Warner (Ham Lake, Minn.) earned All-MLC First Team accolades after compiling 42 points (26 goals, 16 assists), 32 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. The midfielder played in all 19 games and made 18 starts. He ends his career with 107 points (54 goals, 53 assists) and six game-winning goals.

Junior Paul Fisher (Champlin, Minn.) was tagged to the All-MLC First Team after leading the Falcons with 43 caused turnovers, which ranked second in the league. He had 28 caused turnovers during conference-only games to lead all defenders. Fisher set the program's single season record for caused turnovers and ranks fourth in program history. He was named MLC Defensive Player of the Week once (March 27).

Senior Benjamin Smith (Round Lake Beach, Ill.) earned All-MLC Second Team accolades after ranking second on the team with 39 caused turnovers, go to along with 48 ground balls. He had multiple turnovers in 12 of the 19 games this season. Smith ends his career as the program's all-time leader with 106 caused turnovers and ranks sixth with 123 ground balls.

Sophomore Jack Melby (Eagan, Minn.) picked up All-MLC Second Team honors after winning 106-of-176 faceoffs this season to rank sixth in the MLC. He also picked up 48 ground balls during 14 games played. The midfielder won double-digit faceoffs in five games and won 66-of-77 faceoffs during a four-game span in the middle of the season. He was named MLC Defensive Player of the Week once (April 17)

Sophomore Warren Kaminsky (Winnipeg, Manitoba) added All-MLC Honorable Mention accolades to his resume after scoring 26 goals and assisting on five markers. He also had 28 ground balls and four caused turnovers. The attacker scored multiple goals in nine games, including four hat tricks.

Senior Colin Raley (Inverness, Ill.) put All-MLC Honorable Mention honors to his career awards after tallying 40 points, which included a team-high 35 goals. He also had five assists, 23 ground balls and four caused turnovers. The attacker ends his career with the program's record for game-winning goals (10) and was fifth in points (141).

Sophomore Aidan Connolly (Grayslake, Ill.) earned All-MLC Honorable Mention accolades after recording 43 points, which was the second most on the team. He had 20 goals and 23 assists, while also picking up 14 ground balls. The midfielder had three or more points in nine games this season.

Sophomore Stephen Gregory (Louisville, Ky.) was tabbed with All-MLC Honorable Mention honors after scoring 18 goals, assisting on eight markers and picking up 12 ground balls. He also had three man-up goals. The midfielder scored multiple goals in six contests.

Freshman Ethan Danz (Appleton, Wis.) was named to All-MLC Honorable Mention list after picking up a team-best 69 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers. He also scored five goals and assisted on a marker. The long-stick midfielder's 69 ground balls are the fourth most in a season by a non-faceoff specialist in program history.

Freshman Jason Rivera (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) was named All-MLC Honorable Mention after appearing in 17 games, picking up eight ground balls and caused six turnovers. The midielder had a season-best two caused turnovers at Rhodes (March 14) and three ground balls at Benedictine (March 18).

Senior Peter Schrader (Berlin, Wis.) added All-MLC Sportsmanship Team honors to a career that ends after playing six games, picking up two ground balls and causing a turnover in his only season as a Falcon.
