Falcons lockdown Raiders, advance to MLC Tournament Championship

MEQUON, Wis. – The outcome was no different than a matchup from three weeks ago, as Concordia Wisconsin locked down MSOE en route to a commanding 14-1 victory on Wednesday afternoon to advance to the MLC Tournament Championship game for the third-straight year.

No. 1 seed Concordia Wisconsin hosts No. 2 seed Aurora on Saturday at 11 am in the MLC Tournament Championship game at Fitting Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Collectively the Falcons defense was on point throughout the contest, making it difficult on the Raiders from all angles in what was almost a shutout. MSOE scored its lone goal with 10 seconds to play in the contest.
- Concordia Wisconsin allowed just nine shots (six on goal) and caused five turnovers in the first half. Sophomore Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) made many important decisions and made 14 saves. Freshman Ryan Voskuil (Flower Mound, Texas) was one of many standout defensive players but led everyone on the field with three caused turnovers.
- Meanwhile, senior Colin Raley (Inverness, Ill.) was having a game to remember with six goals and an assist during a highlight-reel offensive showcase. Not to be outdone, sophomore Stephen Gregory (Louisville, Ky.) had a hat trick and assist of his own.
- Sophomore Jack Melby (Eagan, Minn.) helped the Falcons gain possession often by winning 11-of-18 faceoffs, while freshman Ethan Danz (Appleton, Wis.) picked up five ground balls.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Concordia Wisconsin and Aurora will meet in the MLC Tournament Championship game for the third-consecutive season. The Spartans won the two previous matchups by scores of 13-11 (2016) and 14-11 (2015). The difference in Saturday's contest is the Falcons have the top seed.
- Raley's six goals tied a career high and are tied for the eighth-most goals in a game in program history.
- Wohlford set the program's single-season record for wins by a goalkeeper with 13. He previously held the record with 12 that he had last year.

THE OPPOSITION
- Oliver Winsor scored the Raiders lone goal unassisted.
- Pat Collins had 12 saves in net during a complete game effort.
