Falcons run past Cougars in MLC victory

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin scored the first 16 goals of the MLC matchup and didn't look back during a 23-2 victory over Concordia Chicago at Fitting Field during a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin was efficient on both sides of the ball all afternoon against an undermanned Concordia Chicago team. The Falcons took 78 shots – the second-most in a game in program history – and caused 18 turnovers. Also, they won 21-of-29 faceoffs to control possession for most of the contest.
- The Falcons spread the ball around often and 15 players found the back of the net. Sophomore Jack Donnellan (Grayslake, Ill.) and freshman Alan Davis (Ballwin, Mo.) led the hosts with a career-high three goals.
- Sophomore Warren Kaminsky (Winnipeg, Manitoba), senior Colin Raley (Inverness, Ill.), senior James Warner (Ham Lake, Minn.) and sophomore Aidan Connolly (Grayslake, ill.) all had two goals apiece.
- Scoring their first career goals were freshman Warner Marquez (Danville, Calif.) and sophomore Jacob Murnane (Milwaukee, Wis.).
- Sophomore Jack Melby (Eagan, Minn.) did the dirty work in the faceoff circle, winning a career-high 21-of-29 attempts, to give Concordia Wisconsin most of the possession.
- Freshman Jordan Alexander (Littleton, Colo.) played 41:03 in goal and made four saves.
- Defensively, nine players caused at least one turnover for the Falcons. Sophomore Sebastian Leck (O'Fallon, Ill.) had a career game with five caused turnovers and four ground balls. As well, freshman Nathan Oekerman (Beaverton, Ore.) had a career-best three caused turnovers.
- Melby led all players with nine ground balls, while freshman Ethan Danz (Appleton, Wis.) had seven ground balls.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Concordia Wisconsin's 23 goals were tied for the seventh most in a game in program history and the 21 faceoff wins were the eighth most.

THE OPPOSITION
- Corey Sheehan and Brett Krueger each scored for the Cougars.
- Alex Pankey made 17 saves in goal.
