Men’s Hockey freezes first-place Foresters

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The CUW men's hockey team downed Lake Forest in overtime to improve to 7-11-3 on the year. The Foresters came into the game leading the NCHA South Division. The Falcons won in overtime to secure the 2-1 victory to move to 5-7-2 in the NCHA.

"Tonight was a great gut-check victory," said head coach Jasen Wise. "Special teams did a great job and we had great goaltending. I am very proud to how we responded to adversity. Tonight was a great team effort from the entire lineup.

Freshman Brandon MacKinnon (Etobicoke, Ont.) scored on the power play in the first period to open the scoring. Freshman Cory Dennis (Madison, Wis.) had the assist on the goal.

Lake Forest evened the game in the second period.

Senior Connor Hogg (London, Ont.) ended the game eight seconds into overtime off a pass from senior Stefen Seel (Invermere, B.C.).

Freshman Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) posted 30 saves in the victory.

The Falcons special teams killed off all seven penalties.

CUW posted a 4-2-2 record in January.  

Lake Forest claimed the Boarder Cup with a shootout victory.

The Falcons will return to action on Friday at MSOE.
