Falcons claim victory in regular-season finale against Benedictine

Lisle, Ill. – Concordia Wisconsin wrapped up their regular season inside the Dan and Ada Rice Center with a win against the Benedictine Eagles. The Falcons used a big first-half performance to power past the Eagles in an 85-76 victory that pushed CUW into the two seed for the NACC tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons needed a win to lock up the conference championship and the two seed in the conference postseason tournament and they came through with the victory on the road. Concordia Wisconsin scored 50 first-half points while shooting 59.4 percent from the field during the opening 20 minutes. CUW also hit 53.8 percent of their threes and had 22 points in the paint in the first half. The lead gave Concordia Wisconsin breathing room which ended up being the difference in a second half that saw Benedictine outscore the Falcons 39-35 in a comeback attempt.
- Concordia Wisconsin was led by Senior Jake Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) who poured in 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds. Sophomore Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) netted 23 points, while also hauling in 11 rebounds, as the sophomore also dished out six assists.
- As the Eagles attempted to pull close to the Falcons, Concordia Wisconsin did a nice job of stopping any run that could potentially prove to be detrimental to CUW's victory. Benedictine would get two buckets and then the Falcons would answer right back on the ensuing possession which didn't allow the Eagles to build any momentum in the second half. Benedictine finished the game shooting 41.6 from the field and 29.2 percent from behind the 3-point arc, as Concordia Wisconsin continues to be excellent on defense against the 3-point shot.
- The Eagles were led by Kenny Bogus who had 21 points and six rebounds. Carl Singletary Jr. also was productive for Benedictine, as he chipped in 16 points while coming away with three steals on the night.
