HOW IT HAPPENED
- Free throws are important at any time in a game and when a team gets the opportunity convert on free points, they need to take advantage of it. In this NACC contest, Wisconsin Lutheran did just that as, free throws are what won the game for the underdog Warriors. Collin Kennedy came up big for WLC, as he stepped up to the line and sank two free throws with three seconds remaining in regulation to stun the Falcons after a defensive foul in the lane.
- Wisconsin Lutheran was led by Kennedy who netted a game-high 26 points and Andrew Bruggink who followed with 20 points of his own. WLC went 20-of-23 from the free throw line, while drawing 19 fouls on the night helping them to victory.
- Wisconsin Lutheran came ready to play right from the tip, as they shot 48.3 percent from the field in the first half and really clamped down on the defensive side of the ball by holding Concordia Wisconsin to 35.1 percent on 13-of-37 shooting from the field to take a 38-31 lead going into halftime.
- The Falcons got back to their normal ways in a sense during the final 20 minutes of play, as they shot 53.1 percent from the field and senior Josh Hau (Slinger Wis.) and sophomore Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) both netted nine second half points. The problem that arose for the visitors was that the long ball never seemed to find the bottom of the net. CUW shot 27.3 percent in the second half after a 26.7 percent performance in the first half. The lost element of the offense halted the ability of Concordia Wisconsin offensively.
- Hau had a team-high 19 points on the night, while senior Andrew Fratzke (Winona, Minn.) had a team-high six rebounds. Senior Jake Jurss came away with three steals on the night.
