Sewanee swipes Field Hockey

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons fell short on Saturday to Sewanee in a SAA matchup, 2-3. The loss sends CUW to 4-9 and 0-3 in the SAA.

It didn't take long for the Falcons to strike.

Senior Kelsey Fulton (Hartland, Wis.) scored from five yards out off a pass from senior Sam Dunn (Hartland, Wis.).

The Concordia defense kept the Tigers off the scoreboard the entire first half.

Sewanee scored one minute into the third quarter and scored two minutes later to take the lead.

Sophomore Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) tipped in a shot to tie the game at two off a shot from Sam Dunn.

The Tigers then scored the game-winning goal in the 44th minute.

The Falcons threatened late, but were unable to equalize.

Sewanee held an 18-11 shots advantage on Saturday, Megan McPike led CUW with four shots.

Sophomore Katelyn Fitzgerald (Wood River, Ill.) finished the day with eight saves.

The two teams will go at it again on Sunday morning.
