Field Hockey overwhelms Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – The CUW field hockey team returned to the win column on Saturday with a 6-0 shutout at Oberlin.

"Today was a good team win," said head coach Sam Schoessow. "We really worked the ball around well."

Senior Sam Dunn (Hartland, Wis.) opened the scoring with a shot from 13 yards out.

In the 27th minute, sophomore Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) got her own rebound and threw the ball into the back of the cage.

Senior Kelsey Fulton (Hartland, Wis.) opened the second half scoring with a rebound off a shot from Megan McPike.

Sophomore Ellie Basting (Jackson, Wis.) scored in the 39th minute on a put back.

Senior Rachel Larson (St. Louis, Mo.) scored in the 52nd minute on a loose ball in front of the net.

Larson scored eight minutes later off a pass from senior Brianna Buehler (Hartland, Wis.).

Sophomore Katelyn Fitzgerald (Wood River, Ill.) earned the victory with three saves. She earned the combined shutout with freshman Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.).

The Falcons held a 29-5 shots advantage on Saturday in Ohio. Megan McPike led the flock with 10 shots, with nine on goal.

The shutout victory is the first for CUW since Sept. 8, 2018 against Sweet Briar.

The Blue and White look to keep the ball rolling on Sunday at Allegheny.
