No. 12 Christopher Newport tops Field Hockey

MEQUON, Wis. - The 12th-ranked Captains proved to be too much for the Falcons on Friday. CNU improved to 4-1 on the year with the 6-1 victory. The Falcons move to 2-2 after Friday.

"They are a really good team," said head coach Samantha Landis. "There are some things that we did well and there are things that we need to get better at. We will now focus on Centre and get ready for tomorrow."

The Captains scored five first-half goals to take the lead, with the help of three goals in the first quarter.

Freshman Donna Pitock (Naperville, Ill.) closed the scoring on Friday with a shot from three yards out off a pass from sophomore Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.).

CNU held a 24-10 shots advantage on Friday. Donna Pitock led the flock with four shots.

Freshman Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.) secured eight saves on the windy Friday afternoon.

The Falcons look to bounce back on Saturday in the SAA opener against Centre. The Colonels are receiving votes in this week's NFHCA poll.
