Acrobatics and Tumbling posts season high on senior day

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW seniors ended their home careers with a bang on Tuesday night. The Falcons posted the highest score of the season with 240.520 points. Arizona Christian ended the evening with 251.380 points.

"The team did fantastic tonight," said head coach Sarah Koenig. "They really took all of the little corrections that we are focusing on over these past few practices and applied them on the mat. We are very excited to see them continue to improve throughout the rest of the season."

The Falcons started the day with a score of 30.85 points in the compulsory event. The event was highlighted by a season-high score of 9.55 in the pyramid heat.

The Blue and White notched a score of 25.45 points in the acro event.

The team of senior Alyssa Ellis (Rhinelander, Wis.), freshman Samantha Hoolerbek (Belvidere, Ill.), freshman Kara Skevis (Lockport, Ill.) and sophomore Katelyn Mirasola (Sussex, Wis.) hit 9.15 in the second acro heat.

In the pyramid event, CUW finished with 28.30 points and scored nine points in two events.

The inversion pyramid had a season-high score of 9.60 and the open pyramid also finished with a season-best score of 9.85 points.

The Falcons kept the season highs rolling into the toss event, where CUW grabbed a season-high 25.15 points.

CUW also posted a season-high in the tumbling event at 45.05 points. The duo pass of freshman Corinne Chambers-Boucher (Round Lake, Ill.) and Abby Pierce (Antioch, Ill.) scored 7.60 points.

In the quad pass, the Falcons shined with a season-high score. The team of sophomore Madison Schultz (Janesville, Wis.), senior Jordan Ireland (Bennett, Colo.), Kara Skevis and senior Tristiana March (Janesville, Wis.) scored 7.75 points.

Abby Pierce posted the best score of the season in the six element pass at 7.475 points.

Jordan Ireland closed the tumbling event with the best score of the season in the open pass at 8.325 points.

The Blue and White closed the meet with another season high, this time in the team event with 85.72 points.

The Falcons honored the CUW senior class of Anna Smith, Jofflyn Zaremba, Alyssa Ellis, Tristiana March, Jordan Ireland and Kyra Kidd at the end of the meet.

CUW will return to action on March 23, deep in the heart of Texas at East Texas State.
