ACHA Hockey advances to NCHL Semifinals with victory over DePaul

FOND DU LAC, Wis.  The No. 3 seeded Concordia Wisconsin Falcons opened their first-ever NCHL postseason run with a 4-1 win over the No. 6 DePaul Blue Demons on Friday night.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: No. 3 Concordia Wisconsin 4, No. 6 DePaul 1
- Records: No. 3 Concordia Wisconsin 24-4-1, No. 6 DePaul 12-15

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons opened the game with a pair of first-period goals to take an early lead. Wyatt Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) scored the first playoff goal in program history unassisted 11:20 into the contest. Six minutes later, Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) followed with the game-winner to put CUW up 2-0.
- Gabriel D'Asto (Endeavor, Wis.) extended the Falcon lead with a goal in the fifth minute of the second period. In the eighth minute, Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.) scored another Falcon goal to put CUW up 4-0 with half the game still to play.
- The Blue Demons cut into the Falcon lead in the 16th minute of the middle frame as Jack Hemmingway found the net for DePaul. However, the rally was not to be as that was the last time either team scored.
- Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) had 21 saves to help the Falcons to their first playoff win in program history.
- Concordia Wisconsin outshot DePaul 67-22
