Women's Volleyball Sweeps Concordia Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's volleyball team took care of business on a quick business trip to Concordia Chicago. The Falcons soared to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-21 victory to soar to 12-9 on the year and 7-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. CUW has now won six consecutive matches.

The serve of freshman McKenna Oetzman (Reedsburg, Wis.) put the Cougars in a 4-0 hole early in the first set. The cats scratched back and closed the CUW lead to 6-5. The Falcons elevated the lead to 10-5 with the serve of sophomore Emily Dickmann (Grafton, Wis.). An attacking error gave the Falcons a 23-14 lead, and junior Abby Proefrock (Grafton, Wis.) ended the set at 25-16 with a kill.

The Cougars flipped the script and held a 4-0 lead to start the second set. That lead quickly evaporated and with the set tied at nine, CUW broke away and a trio of attack errors gave CUW the lead at 16-10. A pair of errors gave the Falcons the set at 25-13.

Junior Mickenzi Benter (De Pere, Wis.) gave the Falcons the lead at 2-1 in the third set and the Birds never looked back. A service ace from junior Noelle Smith (Davenport, Iowa) gave the Falcons a 16-9 lead for the biggest lead of the set. A kill from junior Paige Stickney (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) ended the match at 25-21.

Concordia Wisconsin once again featured a very balanced attack on Saturday with eight Falcons recording a kill, with Paige Stickney leading the way with eight and a 0.533 hitting percentage.
