CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Concordia Wisconsin women's volleyball team closes the Coe College Mabel Lee Invite on Saturday. The Falcons battled but fell with a pair of 3-1 losses to Wisconsin-Platteville and Coe. The losses send Concordia to 3-4 on the season.
Wisconsin-Platteville cruised in the first set of the day with a 25-11 victory.
The Falcons responded with a 25-21 victory in the second set.
The third and fourth sets came down to the wire, but the Pioneers secured 26-24 and 25-23 victories to secure the victory.
Junior Paige Stickney (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) led the flock with 11 kills against UWP.
The Falcons posted 10 blocks against the Pioneers. Junior Noelle Smith (Davenport, Iowa) returned to her home state with seven blocks.
The Blue and White got off to a slow start in the first set again against Coe, as the host took the opening set, 25-17.
The Falcons rallied late to secure a 26-24 victory in the second set.
Coe clinched the victory with a 25-20 victory in the third set and a 26-24 victory in the fourth set.
Junior Mickenzi Benter (De Pere, Wis.) led the contest with 18 kills, with freshman McKenna Oetzman (Reedsburg, Wis.) leading the flock with 31 assists.
Junior Brianna Lundt (Brandon, Wis.) recorded a match-high 19 digs and Noelle Smith led the Bords with five blocks.
The Falcons will play their first match of the year in Wisconsin on Wednesday at Carthage.
