Falcons sweep Stars, advance to NACC Tournament title match

MEQUON, Wis. – With the pressure ramped up in a win or go home contest, Concordia Wisconsin's played a complete match from start to finish to earn a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-17) victory over Dominican on Thursday evening during a NACC Tournament semifinal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling behind 12-6 to begin the opening set, Concordia Wisconsin showed resiliency by responding with five unanswered points and eventually put together a 7-2 scoring run to win 25-23 and swing the momentum.
- All night, the Falcons had timely plays at important moments and the second frame was no different. A service ace by senior Mackenzie Wockenfus (Appleton, Wis.) pushed the hosts in front 15-8 and they never looked back to win 25-18 and take a 2-0 lead in the contest.
- Concordia Wisconsin had short scoring spurts throughout the deciding third set, lead 14-10 and 18-11 before eventually earning the sweep with a 25-17 set victory.
- Senior Amanda Schultz (North Prairie, Wis.) led the Falcons with 10 kills and hit .375 at the net, while junior Holly Anderson (Grant Park, Ill.) recorded nine kills. The setting duo of senior Haley Sedo (Neenah, Wis.) and Wockenfus combined for 26 assists.
- Defensively, freshman Madelyn Alton (Custer Park, Ill.) tallied 17 digs and junior Arianna Richmond (South Elgin, Ill.) ad 14 digs. Wockenfus also recorded 13 digs for a double-double. Junior Kelsey Kleba (Hartland, Wis.) ended with a solo and four block assists.
- Elin Ream and Gabija Sinickaite each had 10 kills for Dominican and Gillian Jones recorded nine kills and nine digs. Anastasia Labadessa assisted on 30 kills and served two aces.
- Megan Parker had 20 digs and Sinickaite recorded four block assists.

MATCH NOTES
- It will be the third-consecutive time Aurora and Concordia Wisconsin will meet for the NACC Tournament Championship.
- The Falcons are a win shy of having at least 20 wins for the third-straight year and seventh time in program history.
