Duchow, Valentine lead Volleyball to first NAC victory

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Britta Duchow had a career night and Carley Valentine directed Concordia University Wisconsin to its best offensive output in Northern Athletics Conference play on Friday night. The Falcons earned a 3-0 (28-26, 25-14, 26-24) sweep over Rockford College at the Seaver Center.

Duchow (sophomore, Potter, Wis.) smashed 11 kills on 19 attempts to pace the Falcon offense. The middle blocker also rejected a career-high-tying four Regent attack attempts by herself.

CUW (4-16, 1-4 NAC) snapped a 12-match losing streak and picked up an important game in the league standings. The Falcons also recorded nine blocks, which is their highest total in over two weeks.

Valentine (sophomore, De Pere, Wis.) paced all players with 29 assists, while sophomore Hannah Griffiths (Antigo, Wis.) had a career-high 19 digs to go along with eight kills.

Nicole Lawler finished with the match's only double-double, 12 kills and 14 digs. Laina Scheri ended the match with 10 kills and Jossilyn Jones dug 17 attack attempts.

CUW returns to the court in less than 13 hours when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College at 2 p.m. inside the R. John Buuck Field House. The match is the second of only five homes matches this season for the Falcons.

Fans are encouraged to wear blue in support of the team during the Saturday matinee.
