Volleyball drops third straight in NAC play

WATERTOWN, Wis. – It was a nail-bitter throughout, but Maranatha Baptist Bible College  found a way to pull out a 3-0 (23-25, 22-25, 21-25) Northern Athletics Conference victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Tuesday night in the Buuck Fieldhouse.

CUW (3-11, 0-3 NAC) was in contention until the end of every set, but reigning NAC Player of the Year Torey DeLozier was too much to handle. She led all players with 22 kills, while her front line teammate Laci Peterson added 17 kills. The Crusaders outhit the Falcons .286 to .174.

Junior Ashley Faber (Kewaskum, Wis.) led CUW with nine kills and sophomore Hannah Griffiths (Antigo, Wis.) added eight kills and six digs. Sophomore Carley Valentine (De Pere, Wis.) and freshman Melissa Jonas (Watertown, Wis.) combined for 28 assists.

The Falcons return to tournament play in Decatur, Ill., beginning on Friday against Wisconsin Lutheran College in a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m. The Linda Slagell Classic, hosted by Milikin University, also has CUW playing Illinois Wesleyan University and Benedictine University in non-conference contests.
