Triathlon Takes Third at NCAA East Regional Qualifier

HUDDLESTON, Va. – The CUW women's triathlon team posted a score of 119 points to finish third out of the NCAA Division III schools at the NCAA East Regional Qualifier on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons finished behind North Central at 52 points and MSOE at 99 points. Millikin finished the day at 129 points. Anabel Knoll of Queens University of Charlotte (NCAA Div. II) won at 59:46.0, the only competitor under one hour. 

"The team gave a great effort today against the best collegiate triathletes in the country today," said head coach Jeff Shawhan. "To finish in the top three in their division shows that effort. We still have more hard work to be done as we head into the NCAA National Championships in two more weeks."

Freshman Aimee Uebersetzig (El Cajon, Calif.) finished 36th overall at 1:13.38. Uebersetzig had the fastest swim (11:14) and fastest run (22:44.0) for CUW on Saturday. The time of 1:13.38 was her fastest of the year.

In 39th place was senior Samantha Hoyt (Sheboygan, Wis.) at 1:14.37. Her bike time was the fastest of the Falcons at 36:03.00. Hoyt also posted a season-best time on Saturday.

The duo of senior Alicia Hook (Lake Villa, Ill.) and senior Hannah Barrow (Sheboygan, Wis.) finished back-to-back in 51st and 52nd place at 1:19.37 and 1:19.49.

Sophomore Frances Jensen (Muskego, Wis.) clocked in at 1:22.02 in 56th place.

Sophomore Kayla Mankel (Kenosha, Wis.) did not finished but recorded a swim time of 17:18 and a biking split of 40:43.0.

Sophomore Maddie Juga (Racine, Wis.) finished her swim portion of the race.

The Falcons close the year at the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship on Nov. 4 in Tempe, Arizona.
