Maya Hielscher Qualifies for NCAA Championships
MEQUON, Wis. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its qualifiers for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday night. Concordia Wisconsin earned a selection in Maya Hielscher.
A junior from Macomb, Michigan, Maya Hielscher qualified for the javelin throw for the championships.
This is the first time that she has qualified for an NCAA Championship.
The Michigander claimed a spot in the field of 22 student-athletes with the 20th-best mark in NCAA Division III at 40.81 meters. She set that mark at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 3. She claimed a first-place finish with the mark.
Hielscher is the first Falcon to qualify for the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships since Nicole Larson in 2016. Larson claimed All-American status that season in the pole vault competition.
The javelin competition will take place at 3:00 on Thursday, May 23. The men's event will take place first at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
