Women’s Track & Field opens 2020 at Grand Valley

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The CUW women's track & field team opened the 2020 schedule at the Grand Valley State Bill Clinger Classic on Friday afternoon. In a field filled with teams from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and Canada, the Falcons earned 0 points on Friday afternoon against the strong competition. Northern Illinois won with 102 points.

Junior Megan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) finished second in the shot put at 12.06 meters and 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 14.52 meters.

Junior Alden Goucher (Port Charlotte, Fla.) grabbed an 11th-place finish in the triple jump at 10.40 meters.

At pole vault, freshman Paige Winterfeldt (Roseville, Minn.) finished in 32nd place at 2.42 meters.

Freshman Alexandria Hood (Grayslake, Ill.) was the fastest Falcon in the 60-meter hurdles in 34th place at 10.78.

Junior Megan Sprinkman (Kohler, Wis.) secured a time of 8.45 in the 60-meter dash in 42nd place.

In the long jump, freshman Lauren Nemitz (Milwaukee, Wis.) led the flock in 50th place at 4.09 meters.

Junior LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.) led CUW in the 1-mile run in 58th place at 5:37.92.

In the 200-meter dash, freshman Lindsay Pluister (Woodridge, Ill.) clocked in at 30.46 in 74th place.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of Megan Sprinkman, freshman Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.), Madison Chiappetta (Lenexa, Kan.) and Alden Goucher finished in 23rd place at 4:33.71.

The Falcons will return to action on Jan. 25 at Whitewater.
