Women’s Track & Field finishes fourth at NACC Indoor Championships

KENOSHA, Wis. – The CUW women's track & field team finished in fourth place at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Falcons recorded 68 points. Aurora won with 184 points. CUW won one individual event on Saturday.

"We coached our athletes all season to prepare for conference and it did not disappoint," said head coach Russ DeLap. "There were a lot of personal records and many great performances. We have some great coaches who did a fantastic job in preparing their athletes for today. Overall, we performed very well and it was an exciting day to be a Falcon."

Senior Jennifer Miller (Freedom, Wis.) claimed the NACC crown in the pole vault at 3.43 meters. The mark is the third-highest in program history.

Sophomore Megan Curran (Morton Grove, Ill.) recorded a second-place finish in the weight throw with a school-record toss of 16.33 meters. She also claimed the bronze medal in the shot put at 12.04 meters.

Junior Nicole Veldhorst (Cedar Grove, Wis.) won the silver medal in the high jump at 1.51 meters.

The triple jump saw a pair of Falcons earn a top-five finish. Senior Morgan Marnholtz (Merrill, Wis.) placed fourth at 10.51 meters. Sophomore Alden Goucher (Port Charlotte, Fla.) was in fifth place at 10.39 meters, the fourth-best in program history.

Senior Irine Bolis (Marengo, Ill.) led the Falcons in the 55-meter hurdles in fourth place with a school record time of 8.84. In fifth place was freshman Anastasia Hoeg (New Berlin, Wis.) at 9.00, with the second-best time in program history. Bolis also placed fifth in the 55-meter dash at 7.60 with the third-fastest time in program history.

In the 400-meter dash, Morgan Marnholtz placed sixth at 1:02.73.

Sophomore LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.) clocked in at 5:58.87 in seventh place in the mile run.

Sophomore Megan Sprinkman (Kohler, Wis.) crossed the finish line at 28.62 in the 200-meter dash.

Freshman Ndeye Thiam (Grayslake, Ill.) led CUW in the long jump at 4.24 meters.

The Falcons closed the day with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of Jennifer Miller, Morgan Marnholtz, junior Kathryn Schultz and LaNea Bartel finished at 4:50.94.

The Falcons return to action on Friday for select athletes at the Carthage Final Qualifier.
