NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The CUW women's tennis team opened the year with a 9-0 loss at North Central on Saturday.

At No. 1 doubles, the team of Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and freshman Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) put up a fight at 8-5.

Junior Elizabeth Johnson (Hubertus, Wis.) forced a third set at No. 6 singles, but fell 6-7, 7-6, 10-4.

The Falcons return to play on Feb. 26 against St. Scholastica.
