Bailey Kelly breaks NACC record in victory at SNC

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The CUW women's tennis team made quick work of the Green Knights of St. Norbert on Sunday. The Falcons defeated SNC 8-1 to improve to 13-7 on the year. Senior Bailey Kelly broke the NACC record on Sunday with her 73rd career singles victory. She passed Kaitlyn Strehlow, who established the record in 2013.

"Bailey is a special player," said head coach Steve Anschutz. "When I got her as a freshman, I didn't know what we had and after freshman year, I knew what we had, we had one heck of a player. I had had a talk with her after her freshman year and said 'this lady is going to going to break the records' and lo and behold she was able to do it. We are so proud of her; she is an amazing player and an amazing person. She has put in a lot of time and effort to make this happen."

Senior Bailey Kelly (Racine, Wis.) and freshman Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) struck first on Sunday with an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 3 doubles, freshman Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and freshman Jennifer Miles (Pewaukee, Wis.) picked up an 8-6 victory.

Senior Ashley Solberg (Waukesha, Wis.) and junior Rebekah Spiegelhoff (Mount Pleasant, Wis.) closed the door on doubles play with an 8-7 victory at No. 1 doubles. The duo won the tiebreaker at 7-4.

Freshman Elizabeth Johnson (Hubertus, Wis.) bounced Hannah Keller at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1.

Ashley Solberg clinched the match at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Lauren Paulson.

Bailey Kelly canned Hannah Swajanen at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-3, to secure the record.

Ricki Budewitz kept the winning ways rolling at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Claire Hetzel.

Rebekah Spiegelhoff sank Nicole Pfotenhauer at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Junior Emma Sievers (Slinger, Wis.) fell short in the third-set tiebreaker to close the match.

The Falcons close the regular season on Thursday at Carroll.
