Women's Tennis drops non-conference matches to St. Thomas, Colby
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Concordia University Wisconsin dropped a pair of non-conference matches during its first day of a spring trip. The Falcons fell 9-0 to the University of St. Thomas and 9-0 to Colby College.
St. Thomas (10-1) won all three doubles matches easily, before winning each of the six singles matches. Elizabeth Carroll was the long player to earn a set win for CUW, at No. 5 singles, after taking the second set 6-3. She eventually dropped the tiebreaker 10-4.
Colby (2-5) also won all three doubles and each of the six singles matches. The pairing of sophomore Amanda Ropiak (Franklin, Wis.) and freshman Alisia Macioch (South St. Paul, Minn.) pushed their No. 3 doubles opponents, but fell 8-6. The Falcons had difficulties during singles play, but Carroll pushed her No. 4 singles opponent to 6-1, 6-3.
CUW returns to action on Wednesday for non-conference matches against Carleton College and DePauw University.
