Women’s Soccer erupts at Edgewood

MADISON, Wis. – The Falcons proved to be too much for the Eagles of Edgewood on Wednesday night as the Blue and White drummed the Eagles to the tune of a 10-0 victory. CUW stays perched atop the NACC standings at 7-0 and improve to 11-1-0 on the year. Wednesday marked the third time this season that the Falcons scored 10 or more goals.

"This was another great team effort," said head coach Ryan Middendorf. "Our players in the backline have been so impressive all season. Kaeley made a remarkable save at 2-0 which staggered the momentum that Edgewood had begun to build. Our attack has really started to open in the last few matches. We finished some great goals today and it is really exciting to watch them continue to improve. This group really pushes each other to get better collectively each time that they step on the field together."

In the 10^th minute, freshman Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.) broke open the floodgates on a header off passes from junior Alexandra Tomich (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and sophomore Kylie Haarmann (Statesville, N.C.).

Three minutes later, junior Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.) tapped in a rebound of a shot from freshman Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway).

Karoline Haugland scored in the 19^th minute off a long pass from freshman Katelyn Ries (Upland, Calif.).

Freshman Kailey Lewis (Eagle, Idaho) scored in the box off a cross from Allison McElwee in the 28^th minute.

In the 32^nd minute, Alexandra Tomich added to the lead with a shot off a cross from sophomore Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.).

Karoline Haugland scored the final first-half goal in the box off a pass from Alexandra Tomich.

Haugland started the second half with a thunderous shot that rang off the post and in off a pass from Selena Esten.

Selena Esten scored 57 seconds later, after winning a battle for the ball in the box.

In the 71^st minute, Karoline Haugland scored off a corner from freshman Natalie Esparza (Milwaukee, Wis.).

Freshman Bria Wachowiak (Owatonna, Minn.) wrapped up the scoring in the 87^th minute on a shot to the upper left corner. Freshman Julie Holt (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) was credited with the assist.

The Falcons held a 40-8 shots advantage on Wednesday.

Junior Kaeley Sterkel secured four saves in the sixth shutout of the season.

The Concordia defense was solid again at Edgewood and extended the scoreless streak to 380 minutes. The Falcons have not allowed a goal in October.

The Falcons look to keep the ball rolling on Saturday in the final road match of the year at Aurora.
