Women’s Soccer rolls at Rockford

LOVES PARK, Ill. – The CUW women's soccer team rolled into Rockford and took back an 11-0 victory to stay atop the NACC standings at 5-0 and improve to 9-1 on the year. Saturday marked the second time this year that CUW has scored 11 goals.

Freshman Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway) snuck past a defender and scored from five yards out off a pass from freshman Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.).

Selena Esten juked past the goalie and threw the ball into the back of the net.

Junior Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.) scored 36 seconds later, after getting past a trio of defenders.

The California connection was working in the 14th minute when junior Alexandra Tomich (Mission Viejo, Calif.) headed in a ball in off a corner from freshman Katelyn Ries (Upland, Calif.).

In the 31st minute, freshman Julie Holt (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) headed in a shot off a corner from freshman Natalie Esparza (Milwaukee, Wis.) for her first career goal at CUW.

The Falcons took a 6-0 lead into halftime.

Freshman Kailey Lewis (Eagle, Idaho) cut through the middle of the defense to score in the 50th minute for her first goal at CUW.

Freshman Bria Wachowiak (Owatonna, Minn.) beat the keeper on a short angle shot off a pass from sophomore Kylie Haarmann (Statesville, N.C.).

Freshman Ashley Swihart (Oostburg, Wis.) through a rebound off a save into the back of the net in the 54th minute for her first goal at Concordia.

Julie Holt struck again in the 67th minute off a cross from Ashley Swihart.

Ashley Swihart closed the scoring in the 70th minute with a drive from the right side.

Junior Kaeley Sterkel (Dana Point, Calif.) secured her fourth shutout of the season in the victory.

The Falcons outshot Rockford on Saturday, 45-0.

The celebration will be short-lived and the Falcons return to Fitting Field to host Benedictine.
