Women’s Soccer sweeps NACC weekly honors

MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference announced its players of the week in women's soccer on Tuesday morning. The CUW women's soccer team walked away with both honors with Kaeley Sterkel and Allison McElwee. Last week, the Falcons upset No. 17 Wisconsin-La Crosse on the road, 2-1.

"It has been a great couple of weeks for our team," said head coach Ryan Middendorf. "Kaeley and Allison's performances have certainly been deserving of this recognition. They've been instrumental in our early season success."

Junior from Laramie, Wyoming, McElwee was named the NACC Offensive Player of the Week. McElwee scored both goals against the Eagles. This is the first time in her career that she has claimed the honor.

A junior from Dana Point, California, Sterkel also claimed the NACC Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the first time in her career. Kaeley Sterkel posted eight saves at No. 17 UWL.

The Falcons return to play on Wednesday night at Lake Forest.
