Two Hat Tricks lead Women's Soccer in rout of Warriors

MILWAUKEE – A hat trick is considered to be a somewhat rare feat in soccer. So what the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team accomplished Wednesday at Wisconsin Lutheran was incredibly rare. Both Alexandra Tomich and Isabel Downs scored three times as the Falcons remained perfect in NACC play with a 6-2 win over Wisconsin Lutheran.

THE BASICS
- Final Score:
Concordia Wisconsin 6, Wisconsin Lutheran 2
- Location: Warrior Soccer Field – Milwaukee
- Records: CUW 7-6, 5-0 NACC; WLC 6-5, 3-2 NACC

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Tomich (Mission Viejo, Calif.) each entered the match with a team-leading five goals. Both players exited Warrior Soccer Field with eight goals. The hat trick was the first of Downs' Falcons career and second for Tomich.

- Downs got the scoring started in the 11th minute and Tomich made the score 2-0 just 3:15 later as both started their incredible nights with an early score. Wisconsin Lutheran would record the last goal of the opening half, off the foot of Kendra Schumacher in the 22nd minute.

- Tomich and Downs tallied their second goals early in the second half, Tomich striking first just 30 seconds after the break. Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.) assisted on the Tomich score, which was followed by Downs second goal of the night just 2:50 later. Ally Hull (Wasilla, Alaska) picked up a helper on Downs next goal.

- Tomich would be the first to reach the hat trick, netting her third in the 55th minute. Downs decided to get on the scoresheet in another way by assisting on the Tomich hat-trick score. Nearly 10 minutes later, Downs joined the hat trick party with Hull gaining her second assist of the night.

- CUW fired 29 shots in the match compared to just 12 for the Warriors. Olivia Kindt (Dyer, Ind.) moved her record to 5-0 in NACC play with a three-save performance.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Tomich also had a hat trick last season in a road win at Alverno. It is safe to say the sophomore enjoys playing road contests in Milwaukee.

- The Falcons hadn't had two players record a hat trick in the same match since the 2005 season when Jozi Ozurumba and Nicole Sabel each scored three times in a 7-0 win over Maranatha Baptist on October 15.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will visit Dominican Saturday for a NACC match starting at noon.
