Falcons soar past Eagles with four-goal second half

MADISON – Trailing 1-0 at the half, the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team knew it would need a strong second-half showing to remain unbeaten in NACC play. The Falcons did more than that, playing their best half of the season with a four-goal outburst, en route to a 4-1 NACC road win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons outshot Edgewood, 10-3, in the second half and four of those 10 found the back of the net. It started just 1:09 into the second half as Kayla Schlosser (Germantown, Wis.) scored her fifth goal over the past three games, this one on a penalty kick, to tie the match at 1-1.

- The game-winning goal was scored in the 66th minute off the foot of freshman Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.). The rookie forward dribbled past the goalkeeper and recorded her first career goal for the 2-1 advantage.

- CUW would add two more scores before the time ran out, the final two coming from McKenna Kowalski (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Ashley Johnson (Chesterfield, Mich.). Kowalski's goal was assisted by Schlosser and was scored in the 75th minute, while Johnson buried a shot from outside the box in the 87th minute.

- Senior Tabitha Ortiz (Plainfield, Ill.) had another strong performance for the Falcons with two saves in her fourth win of the season. CUW outshot the Eagles, 15-6, for the match and put 12 of their 15 shots on goal.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons begin NACC play with a 3-0-0 record for the sixth time since entering the league (2006). CUW started with three straight NACC wins each season from 2011-15. The 2015 Falcons finished a perfect 10-0-0 in NACC play.

- Schlosser's goal was her fifth in the past three games, and also marked a stretch of five straight Falcons goals scored by Schlosser. She scored every goal for the team in NACC wins over Marian and Benedictine last week.
