Men's Wrestling has strong performance at At Hanke Invitational

ELMHURST, Ill. -- Concordia Wisconsin's Men's Wrestling program had a strong showing on Saturday at the Al Hanke Invitational, with seven wrestlers placing sixth or better. Marco Padilla led the lineup with a third-place showing at 125 pounds.

Padilla (Elmwood Park, Ill.) lost his opening bout, but battled back for a third-place finish at 125 pounds to end his day with a 3-1 record. The sophomore had a win by fall in 5:00 and a pair of decision wins for his fourth place in a tournament this season.

Freshman Gabe Rodgriguez (Las Vegas, Nev.) took fourth at 133 pounds after compiling a 2-2 record. His two wins came by a fall in 2:58 and a 12-5 decision. It was his first placement at a tournament for his collegiate career. Sophomore Val Kochiu (Oak Creek, Wis.) also took fourth after recording a 2-2 record at 141 pounds. He began his day with a 15-0 technical fall win before earning a 7-0 decision in his favor. Freshman Josh Te Stroete added a fourth-place finish to the Falcons' success on the day. He was 5-2 during the day, earning two victories by fall in 5:00 and 38 seconds. The Cedar Grove, Wisconsin native also had a pair of decision wins.

Sophomore Noah Hardy (McMurray, Pa.) took sixth at 184 pounds and accumulated a 1-3 record. His lone victory was an 11-10 decision during his second match of the day. Freshman Charles Hindley (Tucson, Ariz.) took fifth at 184 pounds with a 4-2 record. All of his victories came by fall in times of 1:36, 2:08, 1:13 and 45 seconds. Senior Isiah Shultz (Lake Station, Ind.) ended in fifth place at 285 pounds with a 3-2 record. He won by fall in 4:32 and in a tiebreaker 4-3.

Freshman Quin Hoopman (Cedar Grove, Wis.) didn't place, but had a pair of victories at 149 pounds. He earned a 16-0 technical fall victory and an 11-5 decision in his third match of the day. Senior Ramiro Vasquez (Yuma, Ariz.) had an 11-7 decision win at 149 pounds. Sophomore Cameron Caldwell (Adams-Friendship, Wis.) didn't place at 165 pounds, but tallied a 3-2 record throughout the tournament. He won twice by fall in 3:00 and 4:26. Freshman Alexandros Alexiades (Oswego, Ill.) picked up an 18-10 major decision at 174 pounds. Freshman Trayveyon Williams (Milwaukee, Wis.) won by fall in 1:36 at 197 pounds during the tournament.
