Wrestling Preview: NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin Wrestling has prepared all season for the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional taking place on Friday and Saturday inside the McPhee Center on the campus of UW-Eau Claire. The top three wrestlers from each weight class will earn a spot in the NCAA Division III Championship.

Sophomore Merrick O'Donnell leads the Falcons this season with 15 victories entering the weekend, with 11 of those ending in a win by fall. The Huntington Beach, California native has split his last six bouts and the three wins have ended in a fall. His fastest win by fall this season came in 49 seconds against Zion Vasquez (Warburg) in the opening round of the CUW Open.

Senior Eric Martinson (Milwaukee, Wis.) and junior Alex Montbriand (Bartlett, Ill.) have each earned double-digit wins this season, with 13 and 10, respectively. Martinson has earned six wins by fall and four by decision. Montbriand has captured four wins by fall and four by decision.

Sophomore Marco Padilla (Elmwood Park, Ill.), a transfer at semester, has compiled an 8-3 record since January 5 and recently took second in the Falcons last date of competition on February 7 at the CCIW Championship. His a 125 pounder.

Concordia Wisconsin has 19 wrestlers on its rosters, with 13 of those being underclassmen (10 freshmen, three sophomores).
