Wrestling falls in home dual with UW-Parkside

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Wrestling team fell behind early and while the Falcons were able to get close, they couldn't complete the comeback against UW-Parkside Wednesday night. The Rangers, a Division II school, held on for the 28-18 win in a dual against the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rangers picked up 16 points in the first three matches as the meet started at 125 pounds. UW-Parkside won the opening weight with a pin, followed by a forfeit and a major decision.

- The Falcons gained a win at 149 pounds as sophomore Miguel Betancourt (El Paso, Texas) gained a 5-4 decision. UW-Parkside would take the next weight class, a major decision at 157 pounds.

- CUW fought its way back with wins in the next three weight classes, earning 15 points. It started with a 12-8 decision for Eric Martinson (Milwaukee, Wis.) at 165 pounds.

- Senior Mason Mergener (Crivitz, Wis.) picked up the only pin for the Falcons Wednesday, recording the fall in 2:39 at 174 pounds. Junior Mitchell Slaton (Granger, Ind.) then won by forfeit to make the score 20-18, still in favor of the Rangers.

- UW-Parkside would put the match away with major decision victories at 197 and 285 pounds, respectively.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons are back at home Thursday night with a dual meet against Lakeland. Action is set to start at 7 p.m.
