Women's Lacrosse Bounces Beloit in NACC Opener

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons continued their winning ways at Fitting Field on Saturday afternoon. The Blue and White picked up an 18-2 victory to improve to 3-6 and open the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference season with a victory.

Junior Anna Gong (Phoenix, Ariz.) found junior Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) in front of the net.

Junior Andra Hansen (Seattle, Wash.) was able to shake off defenders and found Kami McCardle open for the goal.

Anna Gong blasted the ball past the keeper off a pass from junior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.).

The Buccaneers bounced back with two-straight goals to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Freshman Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) closed the first-quarter scoring on a free position goal with 1:19 remaining.

Junior Olivia Niego (La Grange, Ill.) started the second-quarter scoring when she broke left to right off a pass from Eliana Fuchs.

A spin move for Katelyn Cardinale put the Falcons up 6-2 off a pass from Anna Gong.

Cardinale struck again in the final minute of the first half with a low-rolling shot. Sophomore Ava Karlov (Naperville, Ill.) added the assist.

Olivia Niego started the scoring in the first minute of the third quarter after she wrapped around the Beloit net.

Sophomore Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) scored on a free position shot to add to the lead.

McCardle struck again two minutes later off an assist to Savannah Schweiger.

Sophomore Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) ran past her defense and crashed the net to push the lead up to 11-2 with 8:06 left in the third quarter.

Savannah Schweiger sliced through the defense and pushed the lead to 12-2.

The Falcons charged down the field and Olivia Niego found the back of the net to start off the excitement in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Brenna Bieniek (Shakopee, Minn.) found Kami McCardle in front of the net and McCardle batted in the ball.

Andra Hansen had a low shot that scored off an assist to senior Grace Wilshire (Pittsburgh, Pa.).

Katelyn Cardinale collected her fourth goal of the day after she was fed by Kami McCardle.

Freshman Ella Maltby (Grosse Point Shores, Mich.) joined the scoring party when the charged at the net and landed the shot in the back of the net. Maltby struck again in the final minute of play when she scooped up the ball and scored.

The Falcons held a 57-13 shooting margin on Saturday.

Sophomore Madisen Myers (Rosemount, Minn.) earned the victory with seven saves, with only two goals against.

The Falcons gobbled up 46 ground balls on Saturday. Olivia Niego finished with seven and Anna Gong grabbed six in the victory.

Anna Gong really bummed out the Buccaneers with seven caused turnovers.

The Falcons continue the homestand on Sunday against Monmouth.
