Paquin named MWLC Midfielder of the Year

WAUKESHA, Wis. -- Lauren Paquin concluded a historic career by being named Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Midfielder of the Year, the league office announced on Thursday.

Paquin paced the Falcons in points (80), goals (67), ground balls (61), draw controls (73) and caused turnovers. She ranked fourth in the MWLC for points, goals, sixth in ground balls, seven draw controls and led the league in caused turnovers. The senior from Waukesha, Wisconsin had had a stretch of seven consecutive games in which she had six points or more. In addition, she caused four or more turnovers in nine of the 17 games this season.

It was the second-straight year she was named Midfielder of the Year after sharing the honor last season, while also being named All-MWLC First Team for the fourth consecutive year.

Junior Jenny Quinn (Elmhurst, Ill.) was tabbed with All-MWLC Second Team honors as a defender after recording 18 caused turnovers and picking up 20 ground balls. She had 17 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers during conference play and three or more caused turnovers in three games this season.

Freshman Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) earned All-MWLC Second Team accolades as a midfielder after tallying 63 points, 44 goals, 19 assists, 53 ground balls, 60 draw controls and 20 caused turnovers. She was second on the Falcons roster in goals and draw controls. McPike had at least three goals in nine games this season and scored 21 goals during a five game span in the middle of the season.

Senior Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) added All-MWLC Second Team honors to her list of accomplishments after finishing tied for second on the Falcons roster with 63 points, but had a team-high 29 assists. She also had 35 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers. Kennedy had at least five points in six games this year.

Sophomore Mallory Gurin (Westfield, Ind.) was tagged with All-MWLC Sportsmanship Team recognition. She appeared in nine games and made 18 saves during the season. Gurin played 218:29 and made a season-high six saves at Augustana.
