Falcons run past Sabres in MWLC victory

MEQUON, Wis. -- It was again the Lauren Paquin, Megan McPike and Kristen Kennedy show at Fitting Field, as the trio paced Concordia Wisconsin during a lopsided 18-6 MWLC victory over Marian on Saturday.

THE BASICS
Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 18, Marian 6
Location: Fitting Field (Mequon, Wis.)
Records: Concordia Wisconsin 4-5, 4-1 MWLC; Marian 3-7, 2-5 MWLC

QUOTING LAUREN PAQUIN

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Paquin ended with seven points (four goals, three assists), McPike registered seven points (five goals, two assists) and Kennedy recorded seven points (four goals, three assists), which equated to 21 of the Falcons 27 total points in the victory.
- What can't go unnoticed is the defensive effort Concordia Wisconsin, who forced 28 turnovers of which 21 were caused. In the end, nine Falcons caused a turnover, with Paquin, junior Kelsey Fulton (Sussex, Wis.) and senior Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) all having four caused turnovers.
- The Falcons scored four goals in a row and after a Sabres marker added seven-consecutive goals, which resulted in the running-clock rule to be initiated. The hosts had the running clock for the final 7:29 of the first half and all but one minute and two minutes and 40 seconds in the second half.
- Paquin (senior, Waukesha, Wis.) also had five ground balls and five draw controls. McPike (freshman, Mequon, Wis.) registered six ground balls and draw control wins, while Kennedy (senior, London, Ontario) had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Sally Moris had four goals and Maggie Jalowiec scored twice for Marian. Molly Gross made 14 saves in a complete-game losing effort.

GAME NOTES
- Concordia Wisconsin scored a season-high four free-position goals and has recorded 32 shots on goal in back-to-back games.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin continues its program-record five-game homestand on Friday with a 4 pm MWLC game against Northwestern-St. Paul at Fitting Field.
